Waglan 7-8

Windfinder said 6 knots from the northeast, at 1100. The 14 boats that started Race 7-8 of the Waglan Series 2026 got even more, with readings of 11 knots at the windward mark as the two fleets – IRC and PHS – stormed past Repulse Bay and headed for Castle Rock.

The faster boats sailed around Po Toi and Waglan Island on a course of 17 nautical miles, passing a Tai Tam club mark on their way back. The cruisers rounded Beaufort Island and also passed the Tai Tam club mark, covering close to 13 nautical miles for their course.

First home was the PHS entry, DBX2, after two exhilarating hours and 10 minutes of racing.

On handicap, in IRC 1, Next took the honours and, in IRC 2, Nick Burns and crew in Witchcraft scored a deserved 1st in IRC 2. Thomas Wong helming DBX2 added a 1st in PHS A to his daily tally, while Generations and its happy crew, placed 1st in PHS B. Ganyibei brought up the rear, finishing with its cheering crew lining the rail at 14:35:20.
